Photographed by Kerstin Duell, this project was developed by Dr Carl Grundy-Warr, National University of Singapore and Dr Mak Sithirith, Royal University of Phnom Penh with a grant from the Canadian Council for the Arts.
After the team with some students left, Kerstin stayed behind on a house boat without a translator, any bathroom and three daily meals consisting of rice and fish. Photography meant balancing on one or sometimes each leg on a different wobbly raft – an experience of a lifetime!
